Tottenham has acquired Netherlands forward Arnaut Danjuma on loan from Villarreal until the end of the current season. The 25-year-old is the team's first signing of the January transfer window. He was previously expected to join Everton, but Tottenham made a last-minute move.
Danjuma had previously played for Bournemouth from 2019 to 2021, scoring 17 goals in 52 games before moving to La Liga. He has six caps and scored two goals for the Netherlands national team but did not make the squad for the 2022 World Cup. He played a key role in Villarreal's run to the Champions League semi-finals last season, scoring 16 goals in all competitions.
Danjuma said that as soon as Tottenham made an offer, it was a "no-brainer" for him to join, citing the team's great coach, staff, and facilities. He will add to Tottenham's attacking options, joining Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison and Lucas Moura. Tottenham is currently fifth in the Premier League and is three points away from the top four after a 1-0 win against Fulham.
