Matthew McClean says he plans to make the most of his invitation to play in next year's Masters tournament at Augusta National, following his victory at the US Mid-Amateur Championship. McClean became the first Irishman to win the US Mid-Amateur title and is excited to participate in prestigious golf events. McClean is eager to enjoy the experience, and doesn't have high expectations for his performance. Although McClean is looking forward to two major tournaments, he plans to focus on his profession as an optometrist and hopes to secure a spot on the Great Britain and Ireland team for the 2023 Walker Cup. McClean is currently an amateur golfer and is considering whether to turn professional after the Walker Cup. At present, he is leaning towards staying amateur.
